Drug Warning
You should also bear in mind that this medication can cause drowsiness and can impair your ability on tasks such as driving
Smoking can cause this medicine to be less effective, as the components of tobacco smoke can increase the breakdown of melatonin by the liver
You should also not drink alcohol before, during or after taking this medication, as it reduces the effectiveness of the medication
Suitability criteria
Circadin is used for the short-term treatment of primary insomnia characterised by poor quality of sleep in patients who are aged 55 or over
Dose
The recommended dose is one 2mg tablet daily, after food and 1 – 2 hours before bedtime
Warnings and Contraindications
Do not use in the case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the additional ingredients.
This medicine should not be used if you have a diagnosed autoimmune disease
