Loperamide

Loperamide treats diarrhoea by slowing down overactive bowel movements. This gives your body time to absorb water and salts that it often loses when you have diarrhoea.

Loperamide Hydrochloride 2mg/Capsule

Suitability criteria

Diarrhoea

Dose

Take two capsules to start treatment. Take one capsule after each loose bowel movement.

Do not take more than 6 capsules in a 24 hour period, Do not use for an attack that lasts longer than 48 hours.

Warnings and Contraindications

Do not use if you have severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics. those with active cancer or those with 3 years of cancer remission.

Do not use if you are having a flare-up of a inflammatory bowel disease (such as ulcerative colitis) those with active cancer or those with 3 years of cancer remission.
