Trimethoprim is an effective antibiotic which is used to treat bladder infections (cystitis) and urinary traction infections (UTIs) in women. Where nitrofurantoin has been unsuitable or has caused side effects, trimethoprim may be a suitable choice for treatment of cystitis.Drug Warning
Keep taking this medicine until the course is finished, unless you are told to stop

Warnings and Contraindications
Trimethoprim should not be administered to pregnant women
Do not use in the case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the additional ingredients.
Common Side Effects
Common side effects may include: Headache, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting.
The most frequent adverse effects at usual doses are skin rash and itch or mild, gastrointestinal effects including nausea and vomiting. These effects are generally mild and quickly reversible on stopping the drug.
Your urine may become dark yellow or brown in colour. This is normal and not a reason to stop taking it.
